February 24 Blog Brayden Markham in Canyon Falls

29 January . 2024

This young photographer captures the nature of Canyon Falls

A 15-year-old resident of Canyon Falls, Brayden Markham has only owned a camera for a few months, but he’s already developed a distinctive style that has impressed one of the community’s veteran professional photographers.

“This young man is one-third my age almost and I should be taking some lessons from him,” wrote Ronnie Sunker, owner of Sunker Creative Studios, as he shared Brayden’s photos on social media.

Now in the 10th grade at Argyle High School, Brayden bought a used Canon camera online and taught himself how to operate it.

Brayden had always enjoyed taking photos with his phone, and embraced the challenge of learning how to use a professional camera. Along with learning the technical ins and outs, he has quickly developed a personal point of view for his photography.

“I like to focus on intimate details that are hiding in plain sight, like leaves and designs created by nature,” he says.

Brayden describes himself a “professional photographer in training” and already sees a bright future for himself in the field. He has started to accept bookings for local projects. You can find him in Instagram at @markham.photos.

Brayden’s friendship with Ronnie Sunker underscores one of his favorite things about Canyon Falls, its neighborly vibe.

“There are so many friendly people here who will share their expertise and help you,” he says. “There are also many opportunities to photograph nature here, with all the trails and parks. The lakes attract birds and create some interesting visual effects with fog and reflections.”
