Men find fitness, fellowship, faith with F3 Eagle’s Nest group at Canyon Falls

Canyon Falls has a number of ways for residents to keep fit, including the fitness center at the Canyon Falls Club, group exercise classes, and approximately 14 miles of trails.

For men, there’s also the F3 Eagle’s Nest group, which meets on the lawn at the Canyon Falls Club at 5:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, rain or shine. About 18 men, both residents and non-residents, typically attend each session.

Because most of the men in the group are dads, the name is inspired by our Argyle ISD Eagles.

The fast-paced 45-minute workout delivers an intense circuit of mainly body weight and aerobic exercises, but that’s only a third of what F3 is about.

The three F’s of F3 are fitness, fellowship and faith, according to Canyon Falls resident Dorian Currier, who’s part of the shared leadership team for the Eagle’s Nest group.

Men from all fitness levels, ages and faiths are welcome at F3, an international network of more than 4,000 peer-led workouts in 348 regions across the globe.

Dorian says F3 has five core principles, including that it’s free, for men, held outdoors rain or shine, and led in a rotating fashion. The fifth principle is that every workout ends in a circle of trust, giving men a few precious minutes before going about their days to share with and encourage each other.

“We are committed to helping each other get 1% better every morning. We believe in leaving no man behind, and leaving no man where you found him,” Dorian says.

F3 is also fun, with each member getting a memorable nickname and exercises with challenging names such as Man Makers and WW3s. Concrete cinder blocks, a staple of the workouts, are called coupons.

To join the Canyon Falls Eagle’s Nest group, just show up at workout times, or message the group on Facebook. More information is also available at the F3 Northlake website.
