Calling All Explorers! Canyon Falls Wants You To Fall In Love With The Great Outdoors

We’re kicking off our Family Explorer Series on Thurs., Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. with “Zooniversity – Insects & Arachnids.” Now before you say “eewww,” give these guys a chance and find out how they help our ecosystem. They deserve a lot more credit than being labeled “pests.” This evening’s event is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Learn about the night sky with us on Thurs., Our Oct. 19 at our “Star Gazing Party” from 9 – 10 p.m. We’ve enlisted the help of astronomers at UNT to teach us about the stars and cool facts about our night sky. Come out and count stars with us!

On Thurs., Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., we’re going to learn “All About Bats!” These tiny, nocturnal flyers get a bad reputation because of stories, superstition and movies, but in reality, we need them to help control insect populations – they think mosquitoes are tasty treats – and to help pollinate our flowers, fruits and veggies.

We wrap up our series on Thurs., Nov 2 with “Zooniversity –Mammals” at 7 p.m. If you prefer small, furry creatures, then this evening’s event might be of interest to you. While the goal is to rehabilitate and release mammals back into the wild, some are unable to be released. They become teaching assistants and help people understand why they’re vital to the environment. This evening’s event is recommended for ages 5 and up.

All four events are being held at Canyon Falls Club, 6950 Canyon Falls Dr. in Northlake, TX 76226. They start at 7 p.m. and last one hour. The one exception is the Star Party on Oct. 19, which starts at 8 p.m. We’ll have light refreshments for attendees. It’s free to attend, but seating is limited. To ensure you have a space, please RSVP to Tara Spivey at tspivey@ccmcnet.com.
